These classes are designed to run on from the Intermediate Classes, concentrating on the advanced stages of construction and assembly, where the emphasis is on the final completion of the project. Please note that these classes are not suitable for complete beginners or inexperienced woodworkers.

Computer Aided Design (CAD) is a vital part of the construction industry. All architects, technicians and construction industry professionals are expected to have at minimum a basic working knowledge of CAD.

AutoCAD| Southend Campus | Professional Development …

This course is ideal for anyone interested in computer aided design. You will learn how to use industry standard AutoCAD software to assist you with your interior design, architecture or engineering computer aided design projects. Students attend this course for both personal and professional development needs and the range of techniques and skills covered is applicable to all learners. You will begin by learning the basics of AutoCAD 2D design before progressing onto 3D options to further develop your projects and understanding.

As a student at South Essex College you will also be provided with guidance on how to access the AutoCAD software for home use to enable you to work on projects and tasks away from College should you wish to do so.

Please note that for the 12-week course commencing on 12th November, there are no sessions on 24th December and 31st December due to Christmas/New year break. The course end date will be 11th February 2016.

Award in Auto CAD (2D CAD) – City & Guilds – Level 3

Using AutoCAD in a 2D environment – Use a layering system and different line types – Use and define blocks or libraries – Produce isometric drawings – Define and use an adjustable co-ordinate system – Use complex dimensioning routines – Use drawing spaces – Produce hard copies – Use a means of pre-command object selection in order to carry out editing processes – Change the properties of a number of drawn entities – Edit blocks/symbols and hatched areas – Modify continuous lines formed by a connected sequence of lines or arcs – Use a method to remove unused items and rename other items logically
